When reporting water waste, be sure to include the time, date, location, and type of violation observed. You may also include your contact information if you would like to be contacted regarding your report, or you can choose to submit your report anonymously.
Photos of the problem are often helpful, but not required. The most helpful picture is a wide shot of the area, with the suspected violation included in the frame, which helps us pinpoint the cause of the issue. If there is a broken fixture or sprinkler, a second, closer photo may be useful.

Requests have moved to our new Customer Portal.
Forms are now easier to access and can be submitted without logging in. You may
use the portal to request service starts, stops, billing information changes,
or a waiver of a late fee.
Requests are processed in the order received and may take up to three (3) business days. To avoid delays, please complete all required fields and attach all necessary documents. Incomplete or incorrect submissions will be closed, and a new request will need to be submitted.

The City of Henderson is partnering with SNWA on the Water Smart
Landscapes Rebate. The City of Henderson is supplementing the SNWA rebate
programs for customers in Henderson converting functional turf on their
property.
A)Customer Eligibility
Supplement will only be approved for single-family
residential parcels located within the City of Henderson boundaries that
are removing functional turf not subject to Assembly Bill 356. Areas to be
converted must be serviced by the City of Henderson, and the applicant's utility account(s) must be in good standing.
B) Project Size
The conversion area must be deemed functional turf and a
minimum of 400 square feet. Maximum project rebate amount of $575.
C) Authorization to Proceed
Before removing any turf,
customer must have applied and been approved for the SNWA Water Smart
Landscapes program.
The customer will upload both documents to the Contact Henderson case:
The approval Email from SNWA permitting the conversion to begin
Upon turf conversion completion, the complete Notarized Easement containing the post-conversion square footage measurement
D) Landscape Material Restrictions
Per HMC 14.14.050.B, once turf is
removed, it is prohibited to re-install.
E) Rebate Amounts and Limits
Subject to available funding and
satisfaction of program terms and conditions, the City of Henderson will rebate
for Single-Family Residential Functional Turf Removal: a maximum of $575 and a
400 square footage minimum turf conversion. To receive the rebate check, turf
conversion, and measurements must have been confirmed by SNWA.
F) Important Deadlines and Restrictions
Project conversion must be completed within twelve (12) months
from application acceptance. The customer is to submit approval that the conversion has been completed.
Conversion is to be completed in a
single phase.
Customers are limited to one
conversion per calendar year.
Rebate payments may be
considered taxable income, and customers may receive a 1099 if total payments by
the City of Henderson for rebates and other taxable transactions exceed
reportable limits.
What is functional turf?
An irrigated grass area that provides a
recreational benefit to the community and is:
Located
at least 10 feet from a street, installed on slopes less than 25 percent,
and not installed within street medians, along streetscapes, or at the
front of entryways to parks, commercial sites, neighborhoods, or
subdivisions.
Active/programmed
recreation turf, athletic fields, designated-use-area turf, golf course
play areas, some pet relief turf, playground turf, or resident area turf.
Located
on a Single Family Residential Property.
How do I know if I have been approved for the
rebate? Upon review of your application, you will receive an email
response with your application status.
When will I receive the rebate check? After the
conversion has been completed and SNWA has received your signed Conservation
Easement. Please upload the Notarized Easement to your Contact Henderson case to notify the City of Henderson of your turf conversion completion. At
this point, the City of Henderson will send you an email letting you know that
the check is being processed and a mail-out date.
Will drought-tolerant plants be required? In order
to receive the City of Henderson Water Efficiency in Landscapes and
Technologies Rebate, the SNWA rebate program terms and conditions must be
followed. Please visit the SNWA website at www.SNWA.com in
order to see what plants can be used in the water-smart landscape.

The adjustment is calculated by comparing your water use during the leak to the same time the year before. Then, we lower the cost of the extra water by applying reduced rates:
Water charged in the 3rd and 4th pricing tiers is lowered to the 2nd tier rate
2nd tier charges are lowered to the 1st tier rate
For 1st tier overage, the cost is split 50/50 between you and the City
The difference between your original bill and the adjusted amount is credited back to your account. This helps ease the financial impact of a leak while encouraging responsible water use.

Only Henderson residents can surrender their pets to the
Henderson Animal Protection Services facility. Proof of Henderson residency and
proof of ownership of the pet is required. For example valid photo ID with
address and pet records. This includes owner requests for humane euthanasia.
If you have to surrender your pet to the shelter, there is are fees ranging
depending on the type of pet if the pet is sterilized or not prior to entering
the shelter. The shelter staff highly encourages all owners to seek other
re-homing means first before surrendering their pet. There are many options
like rescue groups and training that can help maintain a pet in its home. You
will be required to fill out a questionnaire on your pet and relinquish all
rights at the time of surrender. All pets that are surrendered are evaluated
for adoption by a multi-screening process.
If you bring your pet into the shelter for humane euthanasia there is a fee.
The humane euthanasia and cremation of remains fee ranges from $50 to $65
depending on the size of the pet. Owners are not allowed to remain with their
pet during the process and the animal's cremains will not be returned to the
owner. You may contact one of the local companies in town that offer private
cremation services if you want your animal's cremains returned. All fees must
be paid at time of service.

Protection Services does not pick up deceased animal to include pigeons, rats,

Animal Protection Services does not offer a service to remove your own deceased
pet. However, if you are a Henderson resident (with proof of residency), you
can bring your deceased pet to the shelter for a disposal fee of $20.00 -$25.00
(animal ashes are not available to be returned to the owner).

Household hazardous waste, such as used motor oil, paint, and pesticides can be taken to the Republic Services transfer station located at 560 Cape Horn Drive in Henderson or their recycling center located at 333 West Gowan Road in North Las Vegas. You can contact Republic Services at 735-5151 or visit the Republic Services website to verify what materials can be accepted at their drop-off locations and to inquire about days and hours of operation. Residents who are already customers of Republic Services for residential trash collection will not be charged a fee however you will be required to show a copy of your last Republic Services residential bill and valid photo identification.
Additionally, some wastes such as used motor oil and lead-acid car batteries can be taken to local businesses that send the items out for recycling. Currently, there is no set street sweeper schedule.
This is due to the limited resources of equipment and manpower we currently
have. Each COH street sweeper, however, is required to cover their entire
designated area once a month. Due to unforeseen circumstances, they might be
dispatched to clean up after vehicle accidents, or incidences that also require
immediate clean-up, such as oil spills, debris in the roadway, broken glass,
etc. that would pull them away from their sweeping routine. Maintenance factors
on the sweepers also limit the ability to provide a set sweeping schedule. It
is possible, however, to request specific street clean-up for our residents
when needed by calling the Public Works Support Services Division's direct
number at (702) 267-3259.

citation amended to a non-moving violation. Requests for Traffic Safety School
may be made at the clerk's window or via the secure online payment process prior to your
scheduled court date.
You must request traffic safety school and
enter your plea of Guilty or No Contest before or on the court date listed on
your citation and BEFORE you attend the class. Traffic safety school
does not reduce the fine amount but paying the fine and completing traffic
safety school by the completion due date will amend the violation to a parking
violation (no points are reported to DMV on parking violations).
You may request traffic safety school only once a year and there
is a traffic safety school fee, which is in addition to your citation fine
amount. You will be given a completion due date and a Traffic Safety School
information sheet when you enter a plea. Failure to complete traffic safety
school by the completion due date will result in the original violation
conviction being reported to DMV. You may
not request Traffic School if your driver’s license is a Commercial
Driver’s License. The practice of reducing charges, altering speeds, or allowing CDL

• Check all sprinkler and bubbler heads to ensure that they are not broken or missing and applying more water than expected.
• Check your watering clock to ensure that it is actually running only as intended. Most watering clocks have 3 different programs which can run concurrently. Any power outage or fluctuation can cause the clock to reset to factory defaults which usually run large amounts of water.
• If you have a pool, check to ensure that the auto-fill device has not become stuck in an on position.
• If you have a water softener, check to be sure that it is not regenerating continually.
• Turn off the house valve (usually located in your garage) to isolate the outside watering system; Take a flat screwdriver or similar item and gently lift the lid from the meter box in your front sidewalk; You should see a small triangle, called a flow indicator, at the top of your meter. If this indicator is moving, you may have a leak.
• There are a number of leak detection companies listed in the yellow pages which can also assist you in locating a leak.
• You may also wish to visit the SNWA Conservation Site for additional information relating to conservation measures and proactive steps to detect and prevent leaks.

Do you have a water softener?
Many pressure problems are associated with malfunctioning or improperly maintained water softeners. An easy test to determine if your water softener is causing a pressure problem is to place the softener in by-pass mode (which allows un-softened water and full pressure beyond the softener). The by-pass valve (Click here to view by-pass valve in a new window) is usually installed where the water enters and leaves the softener. If placing the softener in by-pass corrects your pressure problem, it is recommended that your softener be serviced.
A pressure reducing valve is a common cause for pressure related problems. A pressure reducing valve is typically located in the garage where water enters a home from the street. In some instances, pressure reducing valves have been located below grade in resident’s yards. The primary function of a pressure reducing valve is to reduce the water pressure entering the home from the City’s water supply. These valves can be adjusted by a qualified individual, typically a plumber. The majority of homes located in the Anthem area had pressure reducing valves installed by the home builder during construction. Replacement valves can be purchased at your local home improvement store and are typically priced around $100.
Is there a humming or whistling noise coming from the PRV while water is flowing through it? If so, your PRV is most likely causing your pressure related problem, recommend servicing the valve or call a plumber.

Another common source of pressure related issues are caused by partially open or closed valves. Valve utilized while performing plumbing work should be checked to ensure they are in the full open position. Valve with a hand wheel (Click here to view hand wheel valve in a new window) are generally a gate valve and have been known to break in the closed position. If the hand wheel continue to spin freely in either direction with no sign of resistance, the valve is most likely broken. Recommend replacement or call a plumber.
