The Library does not charge daily overdue fines. However, if an item is more than two weeks' overdue, a bill for replacement will be sent. Once the item is returned all charges are waived.
If an item is lost or damaged, the borrower will be charged for the replacement cost of the item. Customer replacements for lost or damaged items are not accepted. If a lost item is paid for but is then found within six months of payment, the item can be returned for a refund. If any part of an item is missing upon return, the full replacement cost of the item may be charged. (FAQ11676)

- The Library has many public computers for internet use. Internet computers are available to Library cardholders and may be used up to 180 minutes per day. One-hour guest courtesy passes are available at the reference desks on the second floor and the Children's Room if you are unable to obtain a library card.
Computers are available on a first-time, first served basis. Users can reserve the next available computer on the second floor when all computers are in use.
Printing from the internet computers is available for a fee. Black and white printouts cost 15 cents single-sided, 25 cents double-sided. Color printouts cost 30 cents single-sided, 40 cents double-sided. There are no refunds available for printing.

The Mountain View History Center, located on the second floor of the Library, houses information about Mountain View's past. We collect and preserve books, maps, photographs, directories, newspapers, school yearbooks, and other materials pertaining to Mountain View's heritage. We display artifacts that reflect both the changing and enduring natures of the area once known as The Valley of the Heart's Delight. Some items in the History Center collection are property of the Mountain View Historical Association. The Mountain View History Center's archive of historic photographs is available online. This collection includes audio recordings of oral interviews from Mountain View's Japanese, Mexican, and Spanish immigrants. These materials are made available by California Revealed, a state Library-funded project to scan and digitize local history collections. The collection is also available to browse on Internet Archive. The History Center is open Tuesdays from 1-5 p.m., or by appointment.
