FAQ

Which building projects require a permit?

Permits are required when you are constructing, altering, moving, adding to, repairing or demolishing a structure on private property within the City of Laguna Beach. A building permit is required within or on the exterior of any structure. A permit is also required for patio covers, decks, garden and retaining walls, swimming pools, spas, air conditioners, sprinklers, water heaters, furnaces and gas lines. Work authorized by a permit must have City inspections during and at the completion of the work before the project can be considered complete.
