Commendation: What is a commendation?

Commendations are similar to proclamations. However, a commendation is simply a recognition granted by the Mayor and Council for an exemplary act, person or event. It can recognize an outstanding performance, great contributions to the community or a variety of other noteworthy acts. Commendations are somewhat less formal than proclamations and are normally used when there are a number of individuals or honorees.
