Foster families receive a monthly reimbursement provided by the Agency for the child's food, clothing and incidentals. The amount varies with the age and special needs of the child. Each child also receives a clothing allowance at the time a child is initially placed in a foster home and once a year thereafter. All funds provided are intended for the child's needs while in out-of-home care. Additionally, foster children in out-of-home care are eligible to receive medical and dental benefits through Medi-Cal.
