FAQ

Who is a Caregiver?

As the caregiving population has grown over the years, the term caregiver has taken on many meanings. The Older Americans Act programs, which are carried out by the Office on Aging, defines a caregiver as an adult family member, or another individual who is a provider of in-home and community care to an adult 60 years or older. Or, a grandparent, step-grandparent, or relative by blood or marriage who is 60 or older and lives with a child and provides primary care (because the parents are unable or unwilling) and has a legal relationship or is raising the child.
