FAQ

What are CalWORKs Recipients' Responsibilities?

  • Recipients must inform their caseworkers about specific changes that might affect their benefits, within 10 days of any changes occurring. Caseworkers will explain the Rights and Responsibilities of recipients, including information and changes that must be reported by recipients. Correct and timely reporting is important because recipients are required to pay back benefits in situations in which too much cash assistance is issued to the recipients.

  • Recipients must submit a report each quarter (every three months) containing the information needed to ensure that recipients are complying with all of the rules and that recipients are still eligible for participation in the CalWORKs program. This report is called a Quarterly Eligibility/Status Report (QR 7).

  • The Welfare-To-Work program is designed to help recipients develop the skills needed to obtain a job. Recipients will be asked to attend an Orientation that will provide information regarding their responsibilities in finding a job.
