What does WIC provide?

WIC provides nutrition education, supplemental food, breastfeeding support and referrals to other social health/social services to its participants.
*Nutrition Education-Pregnant women, new mothers and parents/guardians of children receive nutrition education to prevent poor health conditions and how to stay healthy. Education is offered through one-to-one counseling, in group classes and online. *Supplemental Food-WIC participants receive monthly food checks for specific foods prescribed to meet their individual needs. WIC foods are high in protein, iron and vitamins A and C. Food checks are redeemed at authorized WIC vendors. *Breastfeeding Support-WIC moms are encouraged to breastfeed and are supported with education and breastfeeding aids. Certified Lactation Educators are available to help with questions about breastfeeding. *Referral to other Health/Social Services - The WIC program refers and coordinates with other services, such as immunizations, health clinics and prenatal programs. *For more information, visit us at www.myhealthoc.org/wic/.
